Day 31: Trick or Treat

The Great Pumpkin! As a kid, I never carved a pumpkin for Halloween. Instead, I usually wore the same costume and trick or treated in the shopping mall. So, today, I'll be carving my first pumpkin with some friends. I can't wait! As you can see, I've done some practicing with this cereal treat.

PS Thanks to my other roommie for lending me the tea light and lighter.

Day 30: Is That Delivery?

Pizza, mmmm just thinking about it makes me salivate. I especially love pineapple pizza! In my world, I could have slices of many different pizzas (supreme, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, love it all) without any of the guilt :p The funny thing is, I actually had pizza tonight. Thanks to my friends for baking some CPK take home thin crust pizzas, they were yummy!

This piece today you can really call it "dessert pizza!"

Day 29: Rock n' Roll

Some of you may know that I like to "play" the guitar. I put play in quotes because I like to write my own songs to play and I'm not very good at playing cover songs. So, I admit it, I'm an aspiring songwriter, who has stage fright of course! But, I love putting chords together with catchy and meaningful lyrics, just as much as creating cereal sculptures.

BTW I give huge props to those who pipette frosting. It's really hard as you can see.

Day 28: Crangrejo

One of my most favorite seafood is definitely crab. I love the warm meat and gooey stuff (it also makes for excellent soup). One of my fondest memories was that of my mom making me crab by boiling it and then turning the boiled water into soup. In that soup, she would put glass noodles in it. It was such a delicious meal!

Day 27: Lasagna and Meatballs

I have two friends whose birthdays are in this month. One makes a mean lasagna and the other makes a mean spaghetti and meatballs! When they invite me over to eat their wonderful dishes, I'm so happy and can't wait. I always loved lasagna since I was a kid. You could say I'm like Garfield that whenever I smell lasagna, I'm very alert.

Day 26: Swimming Hole

Do you have that special childhood memory of swimming in something other than a swimming pool? Well, back where I'm from, I remember swimming with my Dad at the Inarajan pools (at least from what I see in my old photo albums). Swimming pools are definitely great, but to swim in something that was naturally made, you can definitely get a feel for God's creation!

Day 25: Up, Up, and Away

Ballooning, I've always wanted to try it (and skydiving too). It's so funny how we've invented a way to go up by blowing some "hot air" into a balloon. The closest thing I've done to this was the Orange Balloon in the Great Park in Irvine. Hopefully, one day, I'll get to go into a hot air balloon. Anyone know a good, affordable place?

Day 24: O Christmas Tree!

The holiday season is just around the corner (as you can see from the aisles of Target's seasonal section. I'm always so fascinated by the fake snow from the spray can. One day I want to spray fake snow all over a Christmas tree (just like the Simpsons do :p).
Also, don't forget to put the tree topper on (especially a lighted one). After that, everybody needs to admire the tree and decor. I can't wait for the holidays!

Day 23: Does Yellow Mean Speed Up?

Ah driving in SoCal, a favorite past time for many, except when you're stuck in traffic! I always debate on whether I should jump on the freeway and wait in traffic or try to venture out and manuever the streets locally. But, the danger with local street driving are the traffic lights which seem to be timed differently in each city (have you ever noticed Irvine's yellow lights seem to last a lot longer than the ones in Santa Ana). Anyways, be courteous on the road, because some drivers are just plain, old meanies for no reason!

Day 22: Graduation

My roomies and I are going through that season on Gilmore Girls, where Rory graduates from high school and is off to college (I won't spoil what college she goes to for those who haven't seen the show). Anyways, congrats to all those who are finished with all their college classes in December and are going to graduate! Welcome to the working world!

Day 21: Cupcereal Treats

This one was inspired by my friend, who is on the verge of having her first child :o) (I would bring these to you, if the hospital lets me :p So, one of her favorite cereals is cinnamon toast crunch and I thought wouldn't it be delicious to have cinnamon toast crunch and rice krispy (or cocoa krispy) all together on one treat! End results are these, they're not cupcakes, rather they're "cupcereal treats!"

Day 20: Meow!

It's a bunch of my friends bday, let me make a shout out to them "Happy Birthday all you 10/20 kids." This cat happens to belong to one of the birthday people. I tried to sculpt her according to a picture. However, picture + my sculpting != actual representation (however abstractly and if you squint, it sorta looks like the picture).

PS Thanks to my new roomie for making suggestions for its eyes.

Day 19: That's Friedlicious!

I love fried chicken wings! Honey BBQ, Buffalo Sauce, all types are my favorite. Also, you gotta have the sides i.e. mashed potatoes with lots of gravy and some pan fried green beans, yummy! If I could make mac n' cheese (another one of my favorites), I totally would have too!

Day 18: Did you get your 5-9 servings today?

Ahh...the classic fruit bowl. Isn't that one of the first pieces you sketch or watercolor for an art class? Well, if it is, here is my cereal sculpture rendition of it! I have a banana, an apple, and some grapes (yes, the grapes are enormously large like the ones from Japan!). Fruit is so delicious, I especially love mangoes. What type of fruit are you into?

Day 17: I <3 Breakfast

Back where I'm from breakfast isn't your normal pancakes, waffles, type of thing (even though those are all delicious!). Instead, back on the island, we love to have RICE with everything. One of my favorite things is to have eggs (over easy) with rice (or fried rice) and portuguese sausage. I love breaking the egg yolk on the rice and eating it with some soy sauce or ketchup (or both), a breakfast for champions!

Day 16: Hang Loose Brudda!

I've been blessed this year to go to Hawaii with some friends and hangout with family over there. One of the stops was to see the turtles at the Turtle Beach (I forgot the name of the place). But, seriously dude, turtles were a plenty, swimming in the ocean. Anything we got to do was surf. What a tough sport! Kudos to all you surfers!

PS thanks to my friends and family for making the trip to Hawaii so fun! Mahalo!

Day 15: Go Mrs. Pac Man eat that Pac Dot!

Remember that wonderful game Mrs. Pac Man! I remember wasting my quarters trying to past the first few levels. This game along with Tetris made great memories for my childhood. Here's to you Mrs. Pac Man!

~The Cerealist Sculptor

PS thanks to my friend for inspiring to make this for her!

Day 14: "I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream"

If anyone knows me well, they know that I love ice cream! The taste of it melting in your mouth, so refreshing and so sweet, what a treat. Also, I love my ice cream on a plain cake cone. Don't get me wrong, waffle and sugar cones are delicious, but the plain cone gives the right crunch and taste to go along with the sweet ice cream. Can you guess my favorite ice creaM? It's the cone I'm holding in my hand!

PS Baskin Robbins (at participating locations) on Tuesdays has scoops for $1 in SoCal.

Day 13: The Fall of the Bearlin Wall

I used a different type of marshallow today. It's a limited time flavor of chocolate and vanilla combination (mostly chocolate flavoring). This is quite a scrumptous wall made out of cocoa krispies, chocolate/vanilla marshmallows, and frosting (that could've been chocolate, but I don't know how to make that or frosting as a matter of fact). When it was time to let it fall, boy did it sure make a crash of deliciousness!

Day 12: Choo Choo, All Aboard!

Trains, everyone loves them. They bring a sense of good old times where life seemed simpler. Also, there's just that attraction to a train, especially when you're a kid, because we don't get to ride them on a daily basis. For this piece, I conceptually thought of what shapes I needed to make and it worked! It looks like a train! Yay!
