Day 7: Light the Fire

It's getting chilly in October. I remember just a few weeks ago I was complaining about how hot the day was and when fall was coming in. I guess my wish was granted because mornings are a bit chilly and I have to wear a jacket to school :) Stay warm and light a fire!

Day 6: The Cereal Heart Garden

In my world, there is a place where grass is not just grass. Instead, it is made out of rice krispy treats and the lovely, colorful flowers are made of fruity pebbles. If this was real, I wouldn't be dealing with allergies (esp. when I'm around fresh cut grass) and gardens wouldn't just be pretty to look at, but they would be pretty tasty!

Day 5: You call them flip flops, I call them zories

Back where I from (the island of Guam), we call our slippers over there "zories." So, when I moved to SoCal for school and called my slippers this, people looked at me funny. It was like going to KFC and asking for red rice or asking for some finadene (all Guam things). So, I eventually learned the term flip flops and have been using it when I go into Old Navy to buy them.

Day 4: Would you like fries with that?

Classic cheeseburger, no lettuce, no tomato, just meat, cheese, a little ketchup, and bread! I love it when the cheese is all melted!

It kind of looks like a MOS burger (an Asian burger chain that uses rice as their burger buns). But, actually, it is a cereal treat and that "cheese" is yellow frosting. Don't these pics make you want a cheeseburger right now or maybe I'm just hungry :p

Day 3: Time for Bed

Truly this time went a lot better than the first two. I set out to make this and it actually looks like what I wanted. Also, usually when I use frosting, it doesn't end up so nicely. So, I'm glad to say frosting was my friend today and it made the difference is this masterpiece. As of Day 3,
I've gone through 1 1/2 boxes of cereal and 3 bags of marshmallow! I need way more cereal!!! If you have any coupons for cereal, please let me know!

Day 2: Hello Dolly!

Posted by Picasa
I thought it was supposed to get easier. So, I intended to make something else, but due to unforseen mishaps I had to do a 180 and made this instead. Her name is Sireal and she loves rocking a purple vest and a pink dress. Her hobbies include curling her hair, going to the mall with friends (even though she has no legs) and of course, looking great. Oh, did I mention that she loves cereal treats, since she's made of it. All I can say is at least she's stands.

Back to the drawing boards!

Day 1: Treesaster

"Ok, ok, just breathe, what did I get myself into," I thought. I was about ready to scrap all the cereal treats I made today because my 3D freestanding "palm tree" looked more like a brown stump with green goop on top. Then, my roommate said, "you just have to do something else with it." That's easy to say, when all my hopes seemed to have disappeared. Then I realized, instead of trashing the treats, I needed to trash all my high expectations and try a different approach. I needed to learn and quitting wasn't going to help. I didn't quite get what I had originally wanted, but I'm glad to say I'm proud to have this be my first piece titled "Follicking Bears on Palm Tree Isalnd."

Hopefully, after I get the hang of things, each cereal treat sculpture will look better and better.
